The national government, in collaboration with the province and regional partners, commits to an ambitious investment program worth €2.51 billion, aimed at supporting growth and innovation in Brainport Eindhoven and beyond until 2030. This financial injection is designed to enhance public facilities and implement a national talent development plan, with a special focus on the national semiconductor industry.

This historic agreement, recorded in a covenant among various ministries, the Province of Noord-Brabant, and the Brainport region, represents a strategic move to not only facilitate economic growth in the area but also to enhance livability and the business climate. Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Mayor of Eindhoven and Chairman of the Brainport region, emphasizes the region's unique character and national significance, particularly given the prominent role of the semiconductor industry and its impact on the geopolitical and economic future of the Netherlands.

The investment focuses on several fronts: from housing and mobility improvements to talent development and strengthening the power grid. Particularly in terms of mobility, significant projects are initiated, such as the development of a high-quality bus station in Eindhoven, expansions of public transport, and exploration of road widening to make the region even more accessible.

Another key aspect of this investment is accelerating housing construction, with an additional budget of €245 million to create affordable housing in the region. This responds to the rapid economic development and resulting housing demand. Investments are also made in expanding and improving social facilities, such as healthcare and education, with special attention to greenery and water in urbanized areas.

At the heart of this investment is the national plan for talent development, aimed at addressing the growing need for skilled workers within the semiconductor industry. This includes not only attracting new students at all levels of education but also retraining current job seekers to meet demand. The focus here is on inclusivity and the opportunity for lifelong learning.

The financing of the €2.51 billion package is divided between the national government and regional partners, emphasizing a joint effort to safeguard the technological and industrial progress of the Netherlands. Paul van Nunen, Director of Brainport Development, highlights the importance of national collaboration and the need for continuous action to realize these plans.

This investment marks a significant moment for Brainport Eindhoven and for the Netherlands as a whole, promising economic growth, innovation, and improved quality of life for its citizens.
